About the competition
The Cambra Romànica International Competition is a gathering of chamber music ensembles from all nationalities that seeks to promote musical practice while fostering the musical and interpretive culture of young people.
It will celebrate its 8th edition on April 18-19, 2026 at the Auditorium of the Palau de Gel* in Canillo, Andorra.
The competition is aimed at instrumental and/or vocal chamber ensembles. Groups of 2 to 8 members may participate, with no age limitations.
*In case the Auditorium is not available, the event will be moved to the PERECAUS Sociocultural Center in the same town.
Competition organization
The AMICS DEL CAMBRA ROMÀNICA association is responsible for organizing the Cambra Romànica Cambra Romànica International Competition, as well as resolving any questions or issues that may arise.
Categories
Three categories are established according to the age of the participants
Piccolo Category
Free registration
Participants born from 01/01/2012 onwards, inclusive.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: Diploma and gift
- 2nd Prize: Diploma and gift
- Audience Prize
Base Category
Registration: €20 per group
Participants born between 01/01/2008 and 31/12/2011, both inclusive.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: €400 + diploma + concert option/s*
- 2nd Prize: €200 + diploma + concert option/s*
- Audience Prize
*Option of offering one or more concerts if the jury and organization deem it appropriate
Advanced Category
Registration: €60 per group
Participants born before 31/12/2007, inclusive.
Prizes
- 1st Prize: €3,000 + diploma + concert offer (separately remunerated)
- 2nd Prize GrandValira: €1,000 + diploma + concert offer option (separately remunerated)
- 3rd Prize: €500 + diploma
- Audience Prize
Audience Prize
The Audience Prize will be noted on the winner's diploma. All prizes will be subject to legally established withholdings. The jury reserves the right to declare any prize void. Likewise, it may award "ex aequo" any of them, in which case the prize amount will be divided equally.
* The Amics del Cambra Romànica association and the Escola Harmonia of Escaldes-Engordany will collaborate to offer a joint concert by the winners (of similar categories) of the Cambra Romànica Cambra Romànica International Competition and the Young Musical Performers Competition. The concerts will not be remunerated, but the Cambra Romànica association will cover accommodation for one night for the ensemble. Date(s) and location(s) to be defined between Andorra and Catalonia.
Participation criteria by category
- •If any group is composed of musicians from two categories, the group may participate in the category to which the majority of its members belong, or in the category that the group itself decides if the number of members from each category is the same.
- •Any ensemble may choose to enter the Advanced category, even if it meets the criteria for the Base or Piccolo category.
- •Any ensemble that meets the criteria for the Piccolo category may enter the Base category.
- •If deemed necessary, the organization will make a selection based on the registration dossier and submitted works, pre-selecting the ensembles it considers for each category, also taking into account whether they have participated in previous editions.
Competition phases
Eliminatory Phase
Saturday, April 18, 2026
According to the order established by the organization, contestants will perform a freely chosen program as per registration, not exceeding 12 minutes in duration.
All three categories participate: Piccolo, Base, and Advanced. The Piccolo category will only perform in this phase.
The performance order and schedule will be decided by the organization and communicated after the registration deadline, along with other instructions for participants.
Final Phase
Sunday, April 19, 2026
It will take place in the morning, first the Base category and then the Advanced category. Finalists must perform a freely chosen program not exceeding 15 minutes in duration.
The performance order and schedule will be decided by the jury.

Jury
The jury will be composed of relevant figures from the world of performance and pedagogy of Andorran and international chamber music. Its composition will be announced prior to the competition.
The jury's decision is final.
Accommodation
The organization will cover accommodation expenses for participants who request it, at the AINA de Canillo hostel for the nights of Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, 2026. This must be indicated on the registration form.
Additional information
- •The organization will provide a piano for groups that require it for the audition.
- •Winners of the 1st prize in the Advanced Category from the previous 2 years may not participate.
- •All members of each group must participate in the entire program.
- •In the Advanced category, no participant may be part of more than one group, except if the group consists of 3 or more members (and only one person repeats). The association reserves the right to evaluate this aspect at the time of registration.
- •Public access will be permitted during auditions in all phases.
- •Participants agree to transfer their image, video, and sound rights to the association for live and delayed broadcast, and to be used subsequently on the association's channels for whatever purposes it deems appropriate.
